The premiere of The Burnt Church was a great success. Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated our tribute to a staple in Colleton County. Without you our efforts to preserve and honor our past would not be possible.
Here are some of the amazing pictures from Sunday’s Red Carpet Premiere of The Burnt Church: An Exploration of Pon Pon Chapel of Ease.
This event was made possible by a grant from SC Humanities and the fabulous decorating of Sparkles’ Event Decor and Design, BA Rhode and photographs by Becky Terpstra. You made our event truly red carpet worthy. Thank you!
We’re so excited about the The Burnt Church: An Exploration of Pon Pon Chapel of Ease’s premiere tomorrow.
This event is free and open to the public.
Although we will, indeed, have a red carpet, there is no dress code – you can envision the Oscars or the MTV Awards or something in between.
If you are interested in your own copy of the documentary, the CD and movie poster will be available for a $25 donation to Pon Pon preservation.
An awesome collection of books and CDs from Savannah River Archeological Research Program will be auctioned and money will go towards Pon Pon preservation.
A framed print of the fabulous Brenkert drone photo of Pon Pon will be auctioned and money dedicated to Pon Pon preservation.
Brenkert Drone Services and Savannah River Archeological Research Program will have displays in the foyer.
The program should last just over an hour. There will be a brief introduction, the film is 37 minutes, and a Q&A session will follow with SC Scholar Dr. David W. Dangerfield, Historical Consultant and Preservationist Dr. Sarah Miller, Film Editor and Co-Producer Sabrina Ariel Shutters and Film Producer Buddy Wingard.
We’ll see you at Hampton Street Auditorium at the Colleton Civic Center (494 Hampton St., Walterboro) on Sunday. Doors open at 2:00, the program will start at 3:00.
